These are two epidemiological studies. Therefore they only show a statistical relationship between mental disorders and the vegetarian diet, but not a cause-effect relationship. May be there is a common cause for both, or may be people suffering fom mental disorders are more prone to become vegetarians. It is also possible that the vegetarian diet is the common cause of those disorders.
